In short:

Alina Habba has resigned as the top federal prosecutor in New Jersey after an appeals court ruled her tenure was unlawful.

US President Donald Trump expressed frustration at the "impossible" process for getting his picks for judicial appointments confirmed, complaining that he "can't appoint anybody".

What's next?

Ms Habba's former duties will be split between three Department of Justice lawyers as the Trump administration looks to fight the court ruling against her.
