Media Release
Jenny Macklin MP.
Shadow Minister for Families and
Payments and Disability Reform
Tony Abbott must keep the promise he made today in Question Time and ensure there are no delays to the rollout of the NDIS.
For months, all we have heard from this Government
is negative and destructive comments about the NDIS, including the
Treasurer’s false and outrageous claims in parliament yesterday.
This has led to widespread
concern amongst people with disability that the government is planning
to delay the rollout of the NDIS.
Today, the Prime Minister made a solemn promise that there would be no delays to the delivery of the NDIS.
He must now direct his Ministers – including the Treasurer - to stop talking down the NDIS and get to work with its delivery.
Right now, more than 2,500
Australians with disability are getting access to services they have
waited their whole lives for thanks to the NDIS. And this number is
growing every day.
Any delay to the NDIS will be devastating for people with disability, their families and carers.
The Prime Minister must ensure that the NDIS is delivered in full, on time, as promised.
People with disability are counting on him to do so.
