NEWMAN SHOULD DETAIL AUDITS ON MINISTERS’ INTERESTS

Media Release

Deputy Opposition Leader, Tim Mulherin, says the Premier should outline how many “random audits” of his Ministers’ pecuniary interests he has ordered in the past two years.
“Revelations that Deputy Premier Jeff Seeney has been forced to amend his own pecuniary interests register to show a Cairns property make it vital the Premier reveal how many audits he has ordered and the results,” Mr Mulherin said.
“At the 2012 state election Campbell Newman said he would insist on random audits of Ministers’’ interests to ensure compliance with rules for disclosure of pecuniary interests.
“At the time Mr Newman acknowledged the idea was one previously promised by Jeff Seeney himself at the 2006 state election."
“So both the Premier and Deputy Premier should have no problem in revealing exactly how many random audits have been conducted in the past two years as promised by Campbell Newman.”
Mr Mulherin said Mr Seeney had been in State Parliament since 1998.
“Surely 16 years is long enough to know the rules,” he said.
“Yet on the 25th anniversary of the release of the Fitzgerald Report he is forced to correct his entry to show an interest he previously failed to disclose."

“If it necessary for him to disclose it now why wasn’t it disclosed previously?”
