"It was quite chilly, so the President removed his tuxedo jacket and put it over the shoulders of his wife.

"A temporary White House staffer, Carlton Philadelphia, brought his family to the Oval Office for a farewell photo with President Obama.
"Carlton's son softly told the President he had just gotten a haircut like President Obama, and asked if he could feel the President's head to see if it felt the same as his."
"The Obama family was introduced to a prospective family dog at a secret greet on a Sunday."
"After spending about an hour with him, the family decided he was the one."

"We were walking through a locker room at the University of Texas when White House trip director Marvin Nicholson stopped to weigh himself on a scale.
"Unbeknownst to him, the President was stepping on the back of the scale ... Everyone but Marvin was in on the joke."

"When the lightning began, the Secret Service told the President it was too dangerous to proceed.
"He took the stage by himself and informed the audience his speech was cancelled and that for everyone's safety, they should return to their busses.
"Later, he boarded a few of the busses to thank them for attending and apologised for not being able to speak."
"I was trying to capture patrons snapping photos of each other with the President when this guy did what wise-guys do."

"The two coaches for Sasha's basketball team couldn't make it to one of her games, so the President and his then personal aide, Reggie Love, filled in as coaches for this game one Saturday."
"The Obama family was scheduled to tour the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio before dinner one night. But when heavy fog rolled in, they cancelled the visit.
"After dinner, the fog had dissipated somewhat ... It was quite clear when they arrived and then the fog started to roll back in."

"The majority of the time, the President convenes meetings in the large conference room with assigned seats.
"But to monitor this mission, the group moved into the much smaller conference room...With so few chairs, others just stood at the back of the room."

"A Ford truck was stationed near the podium while the President delivered remarks on the economy at a Ford Stamping Plant.
"After the speech, I positioned myself near the truck guessing the President might lean over the hood of the truck to shake hands with Ford employees.
"Instead he opened the passenger door and slid over to the driver's seat so he could get even closer to the employees."

"For Presidential trips, I usually have another White House photographer accompany me so he or she can present with the press and obtain angles that I can't, as I usually stay close to the President.
"Lawrence Jackson made this iconic image from the camera truck as the First Family joined others in beginning the walk across the Edmund Pettus Bridge."

"I was moving around trying to capture different scenes away from the stage during the event to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Bloody Sunday and the Selma to Montgomery civil rights marches.
"When I glanced back towards the stage, I noticed the President and First Lady holding hands as they listened to the remarks of Rep John Lewis.
"I managed to squeeze off a couple of frames before they began to applaud, and the moment was gone."

"What an honour to watch these girls grow up.
"Malia and Sasha were both invited guests for the State Dinner in honour of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mrs Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau.
"Following the actual sit-down dinner in the East Room, they made their way down the Great Hall to the State Dining Room for the musical entertainment."
"It just happened spontaneously one afternoon as the President began dancing in the Outer Oval with Personal Aide Ferial Govashiri.
"As I recall, he was helping her practice for her upcoming wedding."

"The President was about to welcome local children for Halloween trick-or-treating when he ran into Superman Walker Earnest, son of Press Secretary Josh Earnest, in the ground floor corridor of the White House.
"'Flex those muscles,' he said to Walker."
