NEWMAN FAILS TO HOLD GOVERNMENT TOGETHER

Media Release

Opposition Leader Annastacia Palaszczuk says Premier Newman appears incapable of holding together his fractured party and governing in the interests of Queenslanders.
“His government is falling to pieces around him but the Premier seems to have no authority to put it back together and actually get on with governing,” Ms Palaszczuk said.
“Statements by LNP life member Clive Palmer blow the cover on the heavy-handed tactics of the gang of three causing the government to edge towards the brink of collapse — the Premier, the Deputy Premier and the Treasurer.
“Mr Palmer has exploded the state debt myth constantly peddled by the Treasurer and others in the LNP government.
“He has also made it clear the vast majority of the LNP MPs in the parliamentary wing agree with him and do not agree with the direction the gang of three is taking them.
“What we have just six months after the election is a fractured government with the largest warring camps being the Clive Palmer and Santo Santoro factions.
“On top of that are the traditional splits among former Nationals and former Liberals who were corralled into the LNP but who have never lost their dislike of each other.
“This is nowhere near the ‘humility, dignity and grace’ promised by the Premier,” Ms Palaszczuk said.
