Leader Annastacia Palaszczuk says Communities Minister Tracy Davis should visit
flood recovery centres today to see for herself the impact her government's mass
sackings have had on the distribution of assistance.
"On
Thursday I saw for myself how the sacking of 400 staff from the Minister's
department has caused long queues and long delays in the processing of flood
assistance," Ms Palaszczuk said.
"The
Minister should do the same immediately. It is her responsibility to fix the
problem.
"It is not
good enough for her to sit in her office and pretend her government's mass
sackings have had no effect.
"It is a
simple fact that in the past there were an extra 400 staff in the Department of
Communities who could be sent to the frontline to help people during disasters,"
Ms Palaszczuk said.
