COALITION DITCH ANOTHER DEBATE, THIS TIME ON EMPLOYMENT

Media Release.

The Coalition's credibility on jobs and the economy has taken another dive today with a no-show at an election debate on disability employment.

Employment Participation Minister Kate Ellis said that back in April both Labor and the Coalition were invited to Australia's Disability Employment Conference 2013 held in Adelaide today. The conference features an election panel on policies and future directions.

Ms Ellis attended but Opposition spokesperson Sussan Ley took a cue from her leader Tony Abbott's playbook and refused to come.

After three years of silence, Australians still don't know where the Liberals stand on this important economic challenge.

"Joe Hockey spent the whole day yesterday talking down the economy and pretending he cares about unemployment," Ms Ellis said.

"Well today was the Coalition's perfect opportunity to tell the experts, the stakeholders, the media and the general public what plans and ideas they had to support disability employment."

"Who can you trust on jobs and the economy? Certainly not the Coalition."

"We can't even trust them to be accountable and turn up to a debate."
