Russia has launched a second major drone and missile attack of Ukraine in four days, killing four people, and leaving hundreds of thousands without power.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia fired almost 300 attack drones, 18 ballistic missiles and seven cruise missiles at eight regions overnight and into Tuesday local time.
The main targets were energy-generation facilities and substations, Mr Zelenskyy said.
One strike in the north-eastern Kharkiv region killed four people at a mail depot.
Several hundred thousand households were without power in the Kyiv region, Mr Zelenskyy said, where the daytime temperature in the capital was -12 degrees Celsius.
Russia has repeatedly targeted Ukraine's power system with missiles and drones since launching its invasion in February 2022.
In a post on social media, Mr Zelenskyy said, "Russia must come to learn that cold will not help it win the war."

Four days ago, Russia, for only the second time in the war, used a powerful new hypersonic missile that struck western Ukraine. It also sent hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles in a night-time attack.
On Monday, the United States accused Russia of a "dangerous and inexplicable escalation" of the fighting, when the Trump administration was trying to advance peace negotiations.
Tammy Bruce, the US deputy ambassador to the United Nations, told an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council that Washington deplored "the staggering number of casualties" in the conflict and condemned Russia's intensifying attacks on energy and other infrastructure.

In Ukraine's Kharkiv region, the latest Russian attack also wounded 10 people, local authorities said.
Oleh Kiper, the head of the regional military administration, said six people were wounded in an attack on the southern city of Odesa.
The strikes damaged energy infrastructure, a hospital, a kindergarten, an educational facility, and a number of residential buildings, he said.
Two people were also injured as a result of a Russian attack on the industrial city of Kryvyi Rih in central Ukraine.
Civilian infrastructure, homes and gas pipelines, were damaged, the region's governor said.
Russia's defence ministry said its forces carried out a massive strike targeting military-industrial facilities in Ukraine.
The strike was a response to Ukrainian attacks on Russian civilian infrastructure, the ministry said.
Ukraine's military also gave an update on Tuesday, and said it had struck a drone manufacturing plant in the Rostov region of Russia.
