The Morrison Government has welcomed the latest jobs figures this
week, showing unemployment rate is holding steady at 5.3 per cent, with
44,000 new jobs created in August.
But a new report by the Australian Council of Social Service or ACOSS has found long-term unemployment is continuing to rise.
Almost two-thirds of all Newstart and Youth Allowance recipients have been out of work for more than a year — and nearly half of the long-term unemployed are aged over 45.
