The home planet
is the most interesting planet to study, the most important planet to
understand. But some governments prefer not to understand Earth. We

Still, we wrote an interesting paper, even if it was not appreciated.
Our conclusions were pretty much dead on the mark. The real world
warmed a bit faster than our model, but it is easy to understand why –
the reason being related to the fact that the land responds more and
faster to a climate forcing than the ocean does.
We were about to enter a very long siege. It was like when the
Spaniards surrounded Leiden. We had to eat carrot stew every day. But
that is a story to be continued later.
By the way, regarding the remarkable amateur scientist and suffragist,
Eunice Foote, several people told me that photos of her existed and I
briefly went along with that. Alas, it does not seem to be so.
According to Spencer Weart, historians have been unable to track down a
photo or portrait. Katharine Hayhoe has been in contact with Foote
descendants, so far without success in getting a photo, but there is
still a slim possibility of finding something.
